in the Country

he Mozambique Revenue Authority
(Autóridade Tributária de Moçam-
bique) on Friday, August 22, 2014
appointed UBA Mozambique as an
import duty collecting bank in the
country. The bank will become part
of an electronic system called “Janela
Única Eletrónica” a public-private
partnership platform that has helped in
the reduction of time and cost of clear-
ing imported goods into the country.
Before UBA Mozambique’s appoint-
ment, only nine out of the 22 banks in
the country had the monopoly of this
collection since the system’s inception.
However, with UBA Mozambique’s
admission, importers in the country can

during the IATA Aviation Day, held

The event attracted more than 200
delegates from airlines, and associated
aviation services.
Ikpobe, speaking as a panellist on the
topic “How to run a profitable airline
in Africa” said that African Airlines that
will be able to attract finance are those
that are able to set up the right struc-
ture and business model that works. He
also said that such airlines must have
bankable business plans.
The International Air Transport Associa-
tion (IATA) is the trade association for
the world’s airlines, representing some
240 airlines or 84% of total air traffic. UBA
is a major transaction partner for IATA in
Africa.
