UBA Chairman to Lead Presidential Jobs Board

BA’s Board Chairman, Mr. Tony
Elumelu has been appointed Vice
Chairman of the Presidential Jobs
Board inaugurated in Abuja, Nigeria
on Wednesday, September 10, 2014.
The Presidential Jobs Board, which is
chaired by Nigeria’s Vice-President,
Arch. Namadi Sambo, has a mandate
to create three million jobs in the next
12 months.
Speaking at the inauguration
ceremony, held at the Presidential
Villa, President Jonathan said that it
was important that people are not just
trained for skills acquisition but also
given jobs. “We have carefully consti-
tuted the Jobs Board to include key
members of the public and private
sector, this is to ensure that the board
can draw on the cross expertise of
people in government as well as those
in private enterprise”, the President said.
Also speaking, Mr. Elumelu, said
members of the private sector had
been encouraged to be part of the
board because of the transformation
initiatives of the federal government.
The Presidential Jobs Board consists of
Sambo as its chairman, the Secretary
to the Government of the Federation
(SGF), Anyim Pius Anyim; Minister of
Petroleum, Alison-Madueke; Minister of
Trade and Investment, Mr. Olusegun
Aganga; and CBN Governor, Godwin
Emefiele, among others.
Key members from the private sector,
beside Mr. Elumelu include; President,
Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote;
Chairman of Innoson Group, Mr.
Innocent Chukwuma and Chairman,
BUA Group, Abdulsamad Rabiu, among
others.

Signs MoU with
National Union of
Merchants

BA Senegal recently signed an
MoU with the National Union of
Merchants of Senegal to provide
E-banking and Retail Products to the
Union.
The National Union of Merchants of
Senegal, which is the most powerful
professional organization in the country,
has about 70, 000 members drawn from
various sectors of the economy.
The MoU covers the issuance of 10,
000 co-branded cards on a pilot
phase to the members of the Union
with the provision of a further 10,000

cards based on the success of the
pilot phase. The partnership will see the
opening of savings accounts for every
member of the union, with a target of
30,000 accounts opened by end of
2015.
