n support of the Nigerian Govern-
ment’s strategic initiative towards
growing agriculture and creating
wealth, Group Managing Director,
Mr. Phillips Oduoza has pledged the
Bank’s commitment to support Africa
Exchange Holdings (AFEX), a private
sector led commercial agricultural

intervention firm, to mop up grains and
other agriculture products from the
market.
GMD, while receiving the Exchange’s
CEO, Jendayi Fraser in his office
recently, said the project has the poten-
tial to boost the Nigerian economy by
limiting the risks associated with prices
of agricultural products. “AFEX will have
a multiplier effect on agricultural activ-
ities and boost incomes in the sector”,
he said.
He expressed confidence that the
project will be a success in Nigeria, as
it has been in South Africa and other
developed countries.
Ms. Fraser thanked the Bank for
supporting the establishment of Africa
Exchange Holdings in Nigeria, noting
that her company will leverage on
the expansive presence of UBA on the
continent to extend the company’s
services to Kenya and Uganda.
Africa Exchange Holdings was founded
in 2012 by three investors – Heirs
Holdings, Berggruen Holdings and 50
Ventures.
UBA Liberia
Supports Fight
Against Ebola

BA Liberia recently donated a
brand new truck to the Govern-
ment of Liberia to support the fight
against the deadly Ebola epidemic in
the country.
Dr. Eugene Shannon, Director, UBA
Liberia, presented the keys, on behalf
of the bank, to Her Excellency, the Presi-
dent of the Republic of Liberia, Ellen
Johnson Sirleaf at the General Service
Agency (GSA).
Receiving the keys, President Sirleaf
thanked the bank for the donation.

She also said that it was the second
time she has had the opportunity to
meet the UBA Family to receive cash
and material support to help stop the
spread of the Ebola virus in Liberia,
recalling the recent $100,000 donation
from the UBA Chairman, Mr. Tony O.
Elumelu.
On the UBA entourage were Director,
