GMD/CEO attends World Economic
Forum in Davos

Managing Director, United
Bank for Africa (UBA) Plc has
emphasized UBA’s capacity to
finance big ticket transactions in
the oil and gas sector. He said
this during a discussion on CNBC
Africa, on the sidelines of the
World Economic Forum (WEF)
holding in Davos, Switzerland,
which he attended. The Davos
meeting also had in attendance
President Goodluck
Jonathan, whom he met
in company of former
GMD, Mr. Tony Elumelu.
In a discussion, GMD said
this is an interesting time
for Africa with new oil and
gas discoveries presenting
exciting opportunities for
the financial sector.
GMD also spoke on
Nigeria’s readiness to host
the World Economic Forum
on Africa in May 2014
saying that the country
has a lot to showcase in
the field of Agriculture,
Telecommunications,
Power, Oil and Gas, Mining,
Manufacturing and several
other sectors.
The annual Davos gathering
brings together hundreds of
the world’s most powerful
people and heads of state
and government to focus
on questions about the
world’s future.

The UBA delegation
presented the bank’s
numerous products,
especially e-banking
solutions, to the Prime
Minister and his cabinet.
In his welcoming remarks,
the Prime Minister
commended the bank’s
innovative products
which he said are
supporting, among other
things, the government’s
financial inclusion drive.
He called on the bank to
support the agricultural
sector and youth
empowerment initiatives
of the government and
also to expand to other
provinces in Mozambique.

Mozambique led by the
CEO, Clement Isikwe recently
paid a courtesy call on the Prime
Minister of Mozambique, Mr. Alberto
Clementino A. Vaquina. The visit
was part of the bank’s strategy to
expand its public sector business in
Mozambique.
