DENIM ON DENIM
FANNY PACKS/BUM BAGS
PLAID
PINK
I
’ve always loved this look on anyone who is able to pull it
off properly. Now I don’t want to sound like a know-it-all but
there are rules to this look. Wear different shades of denim
(darker shades of denim can make you look slimmer and the
lighter shades draw attention to the parts of your body they
cover, so make sure you mix in the right way), distressed jeans
always work better, don’t wear denim accessories and lastly
dress the look up nicely (heels, nice accessories etc.).
S
orry to tell you guys this but fanny packs are fashionable again. I remember
having one as a kid and even then I hated it and refused to wear it so I am
horrified this trend has reared it’s (literally) ugly head again. Fanny packs are
everywhere these days, even Olamide goes around wearing one around his neck
(apparently this is even cooler). While I hate them I must admit they are quite use-
ful, I did see one transparent plastic one (see through bags and clutches are also
trendy for this year but I live in Lagos and it’s not a good idea to advertise my prop-
erty to thieves and pickpockets, so it isn’t on the list) that didn’t look so bad though.
I
’ve always loved plaid, ever
since I watched Clueless (I doubt
there’s anyone who hasn’t seen
it but if you haven’t, I highly recom-
mend watching it), that movie basi-
cally invented the phrase ‘preppy
chic’. This trend works well for work,
a plaid blazer is a great staple to
have in your wardrobe but you
can also invest in plaid skirts, pants
and tops. Put them all together or
wear them separately, you will still
look trendy and fantastic.
J
ust so you
know, the
colour of
the year is PINK!
The brighter,
the better so
be adventur-
ous. We aren’t
allowed
to
wear pink to
work but you
can still work
this
colour
into your look
with your nails,
makeup and
accessories.
