I
t’s that time of the year again, time
for the fashion gods to let us know
what we should be wearing this year
and what staples we must have in our
closets. I don’t know who they are and
where these decisions are made but I
have a lot of things deemed ‘unfash-
ionable’ (screams ‘MAKE CLOGS
GREAT AGAIN’) that I would like to put
on this list of trendy clothes *side eye*.
Anyway, here are your fashion trends
for 2018:
SNEAKERS
SPORTSWEAR

neakers are in this year. No matter what age, gender, and size you are, you
have to have a cool pair of sneakers (note that sneakers and trainers are dif-
ferent, at least in my world). Pair them with a nice dress, skirt or trousers and
watch your outfit become instantly cooler. My personal favourite are the Adidas
original shell toe sneakers, cool and affordable. On the less affordable side, I also
love the Gucci ‘New Ace’ sneaker (if you are reading this and you want to buy
me a present this year you know what to do *wink wink*)

r ‘Athleisure’ wear as it’s called in the fashion world
(only fellow fashionistas would know this word, so if
you don’t… *ahem*). Tracksuits, joggers, leggings
and jumpsuits are in this year. Joggers usually worn to (you
know) jog, are now worn out to parties with high heels and
nice tops. Your favourite celebrities e.g. Wizkid and Davido
constantly perform in tracksuits (albeit designer tracksuits)
not much different from those worn by mobsters back in
the day. Everyone walks around in gym clothes but aren’t
actually going to the gym. Sportswear manufacturers like
Puma, Nike and Adidas are collaborating with designers
and celebrities to accommodate this trend, just look at
the demand for Yeezys. My favourite collaboration so far
though is the FentyxPuma line, because as we all know,
everything Rihanna touches becomes effortlessly cool.
