BA DRC organized a soft launch
of UBA Africard. With the aim of
increasing market penetration,
DSAs were specifically recruited to sell
the card product in a campaign which
commenced on April 15, 2013.
The UBA Africard is a payment card
that can be used without need for
the customer to own/operate a bank
account with UBA. The card which is
internationally accepted at all Visa
acceptance points is pre-funded and
reloadable. The card can equally
be used for ATM, PoS and Web
transactions.

BA Uganda hosted the Nordic Countries’
Ambassadors to a breakfast meeting at
the Kampala Serena Hotel on April 24, 2013.
The aim of the meeting which was attended by
several diplomats including the envoy to Sweden,
the Honorary Consul to Finland and the Ugandan
Ambassador to the Nordic countries, was to
rally for the use of the UBA Visa prepaid card by
travellers from Uganda.
The Acting Managing Director, UBA Uganda, Mr.
Wilbrod Owor seized the opportunity to present
a dummy UBA prepaid card to the Ugandan
Ambassador to the Nordics, His Excellency, Kibedi
Zaake Wanume, who recently signed up for the
UBA Visa prepaid card.

our schools have benefited from a book
donation under the UBA Corporate Social
Responsibility initiative, “Read Africa” Project.
The schools are the Matilda Newport, Monrovia;
Special Project Public Schools in the Monrovia
area; St. John’s Episcopal in Grand Cape Mount
and John Wesley Pearson Public School in Ganta.
At the Matilda Newport Public School located
on Newport Street, the MD/CEO, UBA Liberia,
Chioma Mang, accompanied by the Broad Street
Business Manager, Joe Jane and Head, Corporate
Communications, Baindu Ken, explained that
the book donation was in fulfilment of the Bank’s
commitment towards ensuring that students
cultivate the culture of reading. “Readers are
leaders. You must read in order to be a good
speaker and writer,” she said.
The managements of the beneficiary schools
thanked UBA for the kind gesture noting that the
gift will broaden the minds of their students.
