T
he GMD/CEO, Mr. Phillips Oduoza has
emphasised the commitment of UBA towards
providing necessary funding and financial
advisory services to businesses on the continent,
as a catalyst for engineering growth and
development. He made this commitment during
his visit to Societe Nationale De Raffinnage S.A
(SONARA), a refinery owned by the Cameroon
government, which has been supported by UBA
since 2008.
Mr. Oduoza noted that UBA is capable of
financing the second phase of the refinery
expansion programme, having been involved
in its recently concluded first phase. “As an
African business, we understand the dynamics
of doing business on the continent. We have
demonstrated our resolve on the continent
by financing big ticket transactions as aptly
demonstrated by our relationship with SONARA”.
According to the General Manager of SONARA,
Ibrahim Malla, “We are proud of UBA as an
African Bank and we have resolved to work with
UBA to grow our company”.
Similarly, the GMD visited the Cameroonian
Prime Minister, Philemon Yang who indicated his
government’s readiness to partner with UBA to
leap-frog the economy through the provision of
infrastructure, housing and energy. “Government
of Cameroon is delighted to see an African bank
doing so well, as UBA is in the country. We are
committed to working with an African institution,
which shares our vision,” the Prime Minister said
while expressing his appreciation to our GMD/
CEO for the visit.
The aim of the GMD/CEO’s visit to Cameroon
was to applaud the members of staff for their
outstanding performance as well as meet with
key players in public and private sectors, towards
advancing UBA’s growth in the country.
