YOGURT
THE MIRACLE FOOD

Y
ogurt is one of the most nutritious
foods you can get anywhere. It is
made from pasteurized, homog-
enized or heated milk, left to cool to a
certain temperature and allowed to
ferment after adding bacteria agents
such as lactic bacteria starters or cul-
tures. The bacteria convert the lac-
tose (milk sugar) to lactic acid, which
thickens the milk and gives it the tangy
taste.
There are different types of yoghurt
such as regular (dairy) yoghurt, low-fat
yogurt, nonfat yogurt, Greek yogurt,
goat milk yogurt, labn (labne), sheep’s
milk yogurt, and soy yogurt. They
come with different health benefits.
The flovoured ones may not necessar-
ily give you the full health benefits as
the cultured probiotic yoghurt.
