THE DIRGE
By Adegboyega ADEJUWON
Life, as a field is seeded with sorts -
Varied species of diverse breeds
Metonymical in semblance, as -
‘Orchards’ appealing or ‘wastelands’
uncomely
Yet not greeneries but earthlings that
brood
Not mere things, rather beings that
breed
Life with humans
Are both graced and plagued
Whereas some are intrinsically virtuous
Others innately, are at best - vicious
Whilst some their hearts, with goodness
buoy
Others, much ill untoward abound
Wonder often …
‘How come we’re this far gone?!’
So strayed not a hint of our passage
That myths are left to tell as tales
And even at that, themind still staggers
At the thought that once upon a time
‘This good …!’ things once were
Sand-prints, by winds already covered
Trail tracks too stale to tail
Alas! ‘The search party’ wanders in
the woods
Seems too late to fetch home the
‘stray’
How art the mighty so fallen!
That let it ashamedly be untold in
‘Gath’
And unuttered on our ‘Ashkelon
streets’
From what heights morality has
dropped
To its very death
As sanity in state is laid
And depravity now in wanton largess
Is there a hope for these stumps yet
left?
To sprout with nodes at the scent of
dew
Are there rains to look forward to?
Or the clouds have ceased to wet
the sod?
Would there respite, at all again be?
Or gone for good is the hope of
change?!
WINNING STARTS WITH
BEGINNING

Everything big starts with something

suddenly. Nothing can be done
except little by little.
People who think they are too big to
do little things are perhaps too little
to be asked to do gig things. Small
opportunities are often the beginning
of great enterprises. Within a little thing
lies a big opportunity. Small things
make big difference; therefore, do
all that it talks to be successful in little
things.
You will never do great things if you
can’t do small things in a great way.
All difficult things have their beginning
in that which is easy, and great things
in that which is small.
One of the major differences between
people who have momentum and
those who don’t is that those with
momentum are growing by taking
advantage of small opportunities. The
