omewhere on Lagos Island, the
commercial hub of Lagos State,
Nigeria, is a gigantic structure
towering into the sky. Perched over
Nigeria’s version of Wall Street is the
head office of United Bank for Africa -
the UBA House.
It’s a typical Monday morning and akin
to the start of the week, everyone is in
a “let’s get down to business” mood.
As staff make their way through the
entrance, there is an unusual bright-
ness which appears to douse the usual
Monday tension. Ladies in red dresses,
green blazers, smart looking three-
quarter trousers, strappy sandals and
the guys looking incredibly dapper in
pinstripe shirts beneath their jackets…
yet this is a Monday, huh?
