UBA Recognised as Leading
BVN Bank in Nigeria
Group Managing Director/CEO, Phillips Oduoza recently re-
ceived executives of DERMALOG Identification Systems (DIS)
GmbH, led by the CEO/Managing Director, Mr. Gunther Mull
at the UBA House.
DIS is a leading company in the field of biometric identifica-
tion systems based in Hamburg Germany.
Speaking during the visit, Mr. Gunther Mull said, “We con-
gratulate UBA for being the leading bank in Africa and a
bank that is one step ahead of even European banks in this
process.
Gunter Mull then presented Mr. Oduoza with a recognition
award in appreciation of UBA’s leading role.
UBA has enrolled over 400,000 customers under the BVN
scheme. UBA is the first bank ever to achieve this, and the first
in each multiple of 100,000 since the exercise commenced.
We are currently doing 25% of total industry enrolment, well ahead
of the second and third banks which are doing about 15% each.

UBA Among Top 100 Businesses in Nigeria
UBA Plc was, on Monday, December 1, 2014, hon-
oured by President Jonathan as the 15th company
in Nigeria in the Top 100 Businesses event held at
the Banquet Hall, Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The Nigeria Top 100 Business Series, initiated by the
Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment,
is the nation’s first formal platform to engage lead-
ing corporations and investors in Nigeria.
Speaking at the dinner for recipients, President
Jonathan said: “The companies are in the fron-
tiers of our economy and will drive the country to
achieve the Top 10 economy in the world status.”
Like the America’s Fortune 500, Olusegun Agan-
ga, Minister of Trade said, the Top 100 Businesses
Assessment Committee gleaned information from
public companies’ annual reports, Nigeria Stock
Exchange, NSE, the Financial Reporting Council,
FRC, as well as reports from private companies
that publish revenue figures, to decide the winners.
