UBA and Ixaris
to Deliver
E-Commerce
Payments to Over
Ten Million across
Africa
United Bank for Africa (UBA) Plc has
announced a deal with Ixaris and its
Nigerian partner “Ojapay” to deploy
a virtual card platform across its
twenty African markets.
UBA will use Ixaris Payment Server to
deliver innovative payment options
for individuals and corporates.
“We have partnered with Ixaris and
Ojapay to make this convenient pay-
ment option available to customers
because virtual cards are not only
easy and convenient to use but also
protect users against online fraud.
They will offer our customers across
Africa a new layer protection and
security for their online transactions.”
said Kennedy Uzoka, Deputy Manag-
ing Director and CEO, UBA Africa.
Virtual cards are indistinguishable
from physical cards when used for
payments and are already accept-
ed by millions of merchants world-
wide that accept Visa or MasterCard
payments.

President of Tanzania
Mr. Kennedy Uzoka, Deputy Manag-
ing Director and CEO, UBA Africa and
Emeke Iweriebor, Executive Director,
recently paid a courtesy call on the
Vice President of Tanzania and other
key officials at the State house during a
visit to UBA Tanzania.
The meeting offered a unique oppor-
tunity for Mr. Uzoka to share the Bank’s
Pan-African vision and identify with gov-
ernment’s commitment to the people
of Tanzania.
He also expressed UBA’s readiness to
give financial support for investments
in the real sector of the economy and
work closely with the regulators in line
with set objectives in countries where
UBA is present.
While in Dar es Salaam, Mr. Uzoka also
met with the Deputy Governor of the
Bank of Tanzania in charge of Eco-
nomic and Financial Policies, Dr. Natu
El-maamry Mwamba among other high
ranking officials and key businessmen in
the country.
The visiting team was accompanied by
the UBA Tanzania’s Board Chairman,
Gen. Robert Mboma (Rtd) and the Ex-
ecutive Management of UBA Tanzania.

UBA and Airtel
Partner to Launch
New Mobile
Financial Services
across Africa
UBA is partnering with Bharti Airtel, a
leading telecommunications services
provider with operations in 20 coun-
tries across Asia and Africa, to provide
mobile-based financial services across
Africa through Airtel Money.
Airtel Money is Bharti Airtel’s mobile
commerce brand that enables sub-
scribers to carry out financial transac-
tions directly from their mobile phones.
Under the Memorandum of Under-
standing (MOU) signed, both compa-
nies will expand the range of innovative
financial services to their customers in
the 12 countries where they are both
present within Africa, which include
Nigeria, Ghana, Burkina Faso, Sierra Le-
one, Gabon, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania,
Chad and Zambia, Congo Brazzaville
and Congo DRC.
Services to be offered in the partnership
include; International Money Transfer
services, Mobile Banking, Super Agency
Services, and Payment Cards for their
customers. The partnership will also fa-
cilitate cardless withdrawal services at
ATMs, Mobile Savings and Loans.

introduction of innovative solutions in
the e-commerce space in Africa,” said
