FOOD
The staple food in Liberia is rice. A
known fun fact about Liberians and
their connection to their staple is, no
matter what other food they eat, they
won’t feel fulfilled if they have not
eaten rice in a day. They will even
profess that they have not eaten at
all, once rice was not a part of the
meal they had. Rice is cooked with
many other sauces known as soup
among the locals. The most popu-
lar of the soups are the Torborgee,
Pepper soup, Cassava leaf, Palm
Butter, among others. These soups are
often served and eaten with rice. The
gingbah or GB is also a national cui-
sine which originates from the central
region of Liberia specifically, Nimba
County. It is mainly pounded cassava
