2017 CFO Awards (Ghana) - Best Bank in Risk
Management, and Woman of Excellence in
Finance:
UBA Ghana, continued its display of excellence in the
Ghanian financial sector by adding to its array of awards.
The bank’s Risk Management team and MD/CEO, Mrs.
Abiola Bawuah bagged awards at the 2017 CFO Awards.
The bank secured ‘Best Bank, Risk Management’ for its
strong risk management practices built into its business
operations, which has protected the Institution from numer-
ous emerging threats; and Mrs. Abiola Bawuah, MD/CEO of
the bank, won ‘Woman of Excellence in Finance’ as part of
the Special Recognition Awards.
The Awards ceremony in its third year celebrated the
achievement, innovation and vision of CFOs of listed indus-
tries. It also recognized finance executives, teams and
leading finance organizations whose exceptional leader-
ship have elevated the standards of accountability within
the business, displayed prowess in managing organisations’
wealth and reinforced the nation’s economic growth.
2017 Ghana Banking Awards - Best Bank,
Product Innovation and Services:
UBA Ghana also won the award for “Best Bank - Product
Innovation and Services” for its innovative cash transfer
product across Africa – Instant Transfer - at the Ghana
Banking Awards. The prestigious annual event was first
established in 2001 to celebrate outstanding performance
within the banking fraternity and was created to showcase
excellence, significant innovation and service in key areas
of finance and service delivery.
Kenyan Annual Banking Awards - Bank with
the Lowest Charges:
The Annual Think Business Banking Awards in Kenya recon-
gnised UBA Kenya as the ‘Bank with the Lowest Charges
- SMEs’. This category award criterion was based on the
Think Business Banking Tariff Survey that was carried out at
in all Banks.
38 Banks participated at this year’s edition of the Banking
Awards which are held annually. The objective of the
awards is to encourage prudence and stability in the bank-
ing sector by recognizing, awarding and celebrating exem-
plary performance in the sector.
CEO of UBA Kenyan, Isaac Mwige, said, “as a subsidiary,
we aim to keep the momentum and endeavour to receive
more awards in the next Banking Awards in categories
like fastest growing, best Corporate Bank and Best Bank in
Digital banking among others.”
