The Lion King Magazine | April - June 2017 - page 54

Dear Dad,
I just wanted to thank you
for all the times you have
been there for me, right from
my very first baby steps till
now, when I am almost an
adult. I’d like to thank you
for everything you have ever
done for me; all the sacri-
fices you have ever made
for me; all the compromises
you made for me; Thanks for
acting like a kid when I was
a kid; for acting like a friend
when I needed a friend and
acting like a parent when I
needed one. The older I get,
the more I have realized how
important it is to have a dad
like you. You have provided
stability in my life and in the
lives of my siblings. The love
and acceptance we need-
ed, you provided. Although
time and distance may separate us, your guidance, advice and
love have stuck with me through it all. I would not be half of who
I am today without you. Happy father’s day to my hero and role
model. You are the best man I will ever know.
Happy father’s day daddy. I love you so much and hope you enjoy
this day as much as you deserve it. You deserve every good thing
that comes with being a father because you excel at it.
Your loving daughter,

Dear Daddy,
Thank you for being the
great Dad that you are. You
are always there for us even when you have
a million and one things to do. You always
take interest in whatever we are doing and
continually encourage and cheer us on at all
times. You are the best Dad in the world.
Have a happy father’s day,
From all of us:

FEATURE
DEAR
DADDY
...
BY BOLA ATTA
Being a daddy’s girl is a
special and coveted position
that every girl dreams of. Read
about what children of some
of our UBA executives have
to say about their daddies in
celebration of father’s day.
‘If I could get another chance
Another walk
Another dance with him
I'd play a song that would never ever
end
How I'd love love love
To dance with my father again’
Luther Vandross,
Dance with my father (1991)
Every time I hear this song, it is with
mixed emotions. All around the world,
people celebrate Mother’s day. So
many songs are dedicated in so many
languages to mums but very little is
known comparatively, about Father’s
day. It is a celebration of fatherhood
which was associated with the day
of St. Joseph’s by the Catholics as far
back as the middle ages. It became
an American tradition only in the 20th
century. And today, it is celebrated on
the third Sunday in June almost every-
where in the world.
We celebrate all our daddies at UBA
and have the opportunity to listen to
what some of their children have to
say about them.
