Meet the New Board Chair-
man and Vice Chairman

A
mbassador Joe Keshi who joined
the Board of UBA in 2010 and was
made Vice Chairman on January
1, 2011 has been elevated to the position
of Board Chairman, succeeding Chief
Israel Ogbue who retired recently.
Ambassador Keshi has a B.Sc (Political
Science) degree from University of
Ibadan Nigeria, M.A. Administration and
Development from Institute of Social
Studies, The Hague, Netherlands; Post
Graduate Diploma – (International
Relations and Diplomacy) Nigeria Institute
of International Affairs, Lagos, Nigeria and
Executive Course on Leadership in the
21st from Century from Kennedy School of
Government, Harvard University, Boston.
He has over 35 years working experience
at the highest levels of government
as a career diplomat, serving as
Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Foreign
Affairs, Permanent Secretary, Cabinet
Secretariat, The Presidency, Charge
d’Affaires, Embassy of Nigeria, The Hague,
Netherlands and Consul-General of
Nigeria, Atlanta, Georgia.
The Board also appointed Mrs. Rose
Ada Okwechime as Vice Chairman. Mrs
Okwechime is the Managing Director of
the Abbey Building Society Plc and has
played a leading role in financial services
for over 20 years, including time spent
with the Bank of England.
Mrs. Okwechime was formerly a Non-
Executive Director on the Boards of
erstwhile Standard Trust Bank Plc (2 years)
and United Bank for Africa Plc (5 years).

and insights of Chief Ogbue. We are

Both appointments were effective
November 21, 2013.
