plans to grow the seed in
Tanzania.
How has the experience been
like since relocating to Tanzania?
It has been exciting as well as
challenging. Before this posting,
I had never been away from my
family for more than three days.
I am in my 6th month now, away
from my family. This comes with
new responsibilities and some-
time anxieties. Be that as it may,
I have always worked in West Af-
rica, so the terrain is not entirely
strange. The cultural difference
has been challenging but at the
same time interesting as well.
What are your immediate priori-
ties?
Work with the team on ground
and turn the subsidiary into mak-
ing sustainable profits from the
perennial loss making position it
has been for almost 4 years. This
is already beginning to happen.
To make UBA Tanzania a great
place to work, a great place to
invest and a great place for cus-
tomers and other stakeholders.
Describe the Tanzanian eco-
nomic landscape and economic
prospects
Tanzania remains one of the most
stable countries on the continent,
with a significant natural resource
endowment. Its political stability
makes the country an invest-
ment destination and this can be
seen in the flow of Foreign Direct
Investment from America, Europe
and Asia.
