well as the Affirmative Finance Action
for Women in Africa (AFAWA) facility put
in place in partnership with the African
Development Bank (AfDB) to support
women in Africa.
As this edition of our LKM is dedicated
to our women, I would like to seize the
opportunity to congratulate one of our
very own, Mrs Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala on
her appointment as the Director General,
World Trade Organisation (WTO). She
made history as the first female and the
first African to occupy this prestigious
position! Ma, all of us at UBA wish you a
memorable and successful tenure.
Also, I am delighted to inform you that
Q1 ‘2021 is ending with exciting news
that Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana, Cote d’Ivoire
and many other African countries
have started receiving the Coronavirus
vaccines. This is commendable but
please remain mindful of the fact that
COVID-19 has not been eradicated even
though we have high hopes that the end
is in sight.
We remain a united tribe…#UBA Tribe to
the World.
