The Board of UBA Zambia, led by the ED/

Excellency, President Edgar C. Lungu at
State House, Lusaka, Zambia. The dele-

his recent election as the President of the
Republic of Zambia.
Mr. Iweriebor assured the President that
UBA will continue to support government’s
effort to grow the economy and lift the
standard of living of the people of Zambia.
He outlined the strategic objectives of UBA
in Africa and various business opportunities
available to the Zambian Government
through UBA not only in Nigeria but in all 19
countries where UBA operates. He reiter-
ated UBA’s commitment to the develop-
ment of Zambia and Africa as a whole by
promoting trade and payment amongst
African countries.
The President in his response thanked the
Board for the visit and said the Government
of Zambia appreciates the role African

especially in Zambia, and that they will be
knocking on UBA’s doors for more support
for their development projects. He prom-

country.
The Emir of Kano, His Highness, Muham-
madu Sanusi II, has commended the
GMD, Phillips Oduoza, for the leadership
role he played at the height of banking
industry reforms in Nigeria.
The Emir, who was the Governor of
the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) until
June 2014, spoke when the GMD led
some members of EXCO on a visit to his
palace in Kano. He said that because
of UBA’s commitment to the banking re-
forms, Oduoza chaired the committee
for financial inclusion, the cashless and
mobile banking initiatives in the country.
Mr. Oduoza, while responding to the
commendation, praised the exemplary
leadership skills shown by the Emir as a
staff of UBA and Governor of Central
Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
Oduoza, who was accompanied to
the Emir’s Palace by ED, Resources,
Obi Ibekwe; SBG Head, Public Sector
Group, Oliver Alawuba; RBH, Kano 1,
Muhtari Tasiu and RBH, Kano 2, Fatima
Bako, informed the Emir of how his
policy on gender representation as CBN
governor has spurred UBA into appoint-
ing women on its board, and into criti-
cal executive management positions.
