UBA to Deepen Business
Relationship with Airtel
GMD/CEO, Phillips Oduoza, on Monday, January 19, 2015,
visited the Managing Director of Airtel, Segun Ogunsanya to
discuss the different ways both firms can expand their existing
business relationship. Airtel, which is one of the leading tele-
com companies on the continent, already does significant
level of business with our bank.
The Airtel MD, thanked GMD for the visit, saying that it will set
the tone for both firms to expand their cooperation across
the continent.
GMD was accompanied by the Divisional Head, Telecoms,
Ayo Sobande and SBG Head, Corporate Bank, Anya Duroha.

UBA Zambia Partners Necor
Zambia Limited
A media breakfast was held recently to launch the partner-
ship between UBA Zambia and Necor Zambia Limited on the
use of the Africard.
Speaking at the launch, the Minister of Commerce, Zambia,
Hon. Bob Sichinga stated that it was gratifying that the two
institutions were partnering in the pursuit of efficient delivery
of banking solutions to the Zambian people, and working
towards financial inclusion.
According to Necor Zambia Limited Managing Director,
Friday Mwamba, the introduction of the card is intended to
satisfy the demand for the untapped and unbanked individ-
uals.
Managing Director UBA Zambia, Stanley Ugwueze in his
remarks at the event, said “We have partnered with Necor
Zambia to ride on their extensive branch network. Necor has
over 19 branches across Zambia and with the addition of the
Africard services, the public will receive easy access to our
banking facilities.”

UBA Boosts Fight against Ebola in Sierra
Leone with Additional $300,000 Donation

Sierra Leone, Mr. Ndubui-
si Ejiofor on behalf of the
UBA Foundation, recently
presented an additional
$300,000 cheque to the
President of Sierra Leone,
Ernest Bai Koroma to help
the country’s fight against
Ebola.
The Tony Elumelu Founda-
tion, set up by Mr. Tony Elu-
melu, Chairman, UBA Board
of Directors, at the peak of
the Ebola outbreak in 2014,
had donated $100,000 to
complement the Sierra
Leone government’s efforts

million given by UBA Foun-

Explaining the rational for
the donation, Mr. Ejiofor
recalled a statement by the
Chairman of the UBA Group,
Tony Elumelu that “Africa is
our home and our destiny,
and Africans need to place
themselves at the forefront in
the campaign to overcome
this tragedy.”
President Koroma thanked
UBA for the donation saying
“You know a true friend
when you are faced with a
challenging moment like the
Ebola outbreak.”
