Just a smile
A long way to brighten someone’s day
Just a little tip
Amazing victory to someone in defeat
A minute call
Insignificant
A saving moment
For a lonely soul
A little word sorry
Cools a raging storm
Calms troubled waters
LITTLE THING THAT MATTERS
By Oluwafemi Olabanji
Day gave way to night
Light gave way to dark
And yet the dark took what it could not give
It took what the Light gave so willingly and
lovingly
It took begrudgingly because it could never
understand
The Light gave effortlessly and without guise
Though the dark takes constantly but it can-
not stay content
In envy of the Light, the dark takes endlessly,
Though it takes lasciviously without guise, it
is never content
The dark took IDRIS not because it wanted
him but in envy of the Lights content
We shed tears every time the dark takes not
because it won the battle
But because it has failed to see in its blind-
ing envy, the beauty of what the Light gives.
We shed tears
And I shed a lot of tears, for IDRIS
A man I barely knew but one in whose
hands I daily entrust
That which the Light has lovingly given
A man who taught me more in death
Than any Nobel laureate will in a lifetime of
lectures
For the dreams he had
And for the life he never lived
The dark may think it won because it took
one of our own
But the ever beautiful Light smiles and gives
still
If the Light chooses to bring back IDRIS
A better life for him I pray thee
Good bye IDRIS the dark didn’t win
You’ll forever be in our hearts where the
Light dwells
Mine especially.
The lady in yellow,
Permit me to say, ‘Hello’
The morning of the morrow
Seems gloom and low
Until I beheld a glow
Like purity as white as snow
When moment seems low
For you oh oh oh
Think not of your years of sorrow
Be your best, look your best with a smile aglow
You will see the damsels waiting in a row
Go choose like a hero
And bade farewell to sorrow oh oh oh
I raised up my head and lo
Words eluded me until I borrow
A word from a gliding swallow
Just a pause to greet and there was already a flow
Flowing amidst inspiration, motivation , vision and oh!
Before cupid could stretch his bow
And sharpen his beautiful arrow
When moment seems low
For you oh oh oh
Think not of your years of sorrow
Be your best, look your best with a smile aglow
You will see the damsels waiting in a row
Go choose like a hero
And bade farewell to sorrow oh oh oh
I already wanted to swallow
The beautiful flower a farmer sow
Oh! Pardon me Mr. Farmer, by this time tomorrow
I want to marry my sweetheart and become a duo
If you must attend, come along with a video
And if you must hear, listen with your audio
For already a dough
Is made ready and the party is aglow
So if you must greet Bethel in Yellow
Simply say, ‘Hello’
To the lady in yellow.
When moment seems low
For you oh oh oh
Think not of your years of sorrow
Be your best, look your best with a smile aglow
You will see the damsels waiting in a row
Go choose like a hero
