 IT’S
We love football in Africa! We love our music,
we love our dance, we love our beautiful continent and a lot of other things but we just love football and we tap a pretty good game too. This year, we are getting a full dose of the game,
back to back, as the AFCON tourney swings in and our respective countries (the 24 countries that qualified) slug it out in Egypt.
Africa has produced a fair share of the finest footballers the world has ever seen. Matter of fact, this year’s EPL highest goal scorers are bona fide sons of the soil. Those great players we love watching on the international fields are coming to, hopefully, do the same magic they do for their clubs for their motherland.
Since it’s football season in Africa, we got talking with some of Africa’s football heroes, home and abroad, to hear what they have to say about playing for club and country, as well as their take on the 2019 Cup of Nations.
FOOTBALL
SEASON IN
AFRICA
By Nonso Nduanya
    KHALILOU FADIGA
Former Senegal international, Khalilou Fadiga, played in different clubs across Europe. The ex-Auxerre and Bolton Wanderers midfielder who began his career at Paris Saint-Germain in France, earned 37 caps for his country, the Teranga Lions. He was signed up by Inter Milan in the summer of 2003, but the discovery of heart problems did not allow
him to feature for the club.
What should we expect at the Nation’s Cup?
I am a member of the CAF Committee, so I’m always happy when AFCON is coming and I hope that Senegal and Nigeria are going to do very well and that the quality of football will be very high.
