It’s the daddy issue, but we know secretly that mums are always
on top. Or are we really? Read about the weight loss diary of one
of our Lionesses post-pregnancy,
A Personal Journey to Weight Loss
after Child Birth
(page 64). It’s an uphill battle. Women carry children
for 9 months, pile on pounds, feet grow bigger, and then the baby
comes out and his/her first words are most often always ‘da da’.
This issue of the Lion King magazine is dedicated to all our Lions,
young, old and middle aged. The role that fathers play in our lives is
very significant and can make the difference in how one navigates
life. My Dad was a central figure in our lives growing up. He was very
handsome, smart, caring and so much fun. He knew how to make
everyone feel very special. I was of course Daddy’s girl and his
favourite daughter…well my two older sisters would probably argue
differently, but I know better (wink).
In this edition, we talk to another Daddy’s girl. Former Miss World and
REDTV ambassador, Agbani Darego-Danjuma who tells us about
the business of representing Nigeria on the world stage,
Agbani, a
Basket of Blessings
(page 13).
We also have super surprises for some of our male staff and
Executives whose children have written from the heart about how
important their daddies are in their lives. You have to read
Dear
Daddy
(page 54) and be inspired by the love of children for their
parents.
UBA is like a father figure to all of us, giving, protecting, working
hard to make us proud. We look up to our institution and are proud
to be associated with it. We have recorded many milestones this
year already. Learn about the bank’s debut $500 million Eurobond
which was oversubscribed. We break it down to you in page 11.
UBA has been great this year, the financials say it all,
Defying Macro
Uncertainties; UBA Waxing Stronger
(page 7). We still have farther
to go together as a family of employees that will be known as
constantly delivering excellent services to our customers.
Happy father’s day to all our Lions with
cubs.
Don’t forget to write and let us know
what you think about the LKM. You stand
a chance to win a fabulous gift.
