Dragon V2 first manned
flight to space will be
launched
In 2014, a manned version of the
spacecraft – known as Dragon V2 –
was unveiled. Capable of transporting
up to seven astronauts, it featured a
considerably more advanced design
than its cargo-carrying predecessor.
The V2 now includes fully reusable
capabilities and ability to fly multiple
times, significantly reducing the cost
of access to space.
Dragon V2
made its first unmanned test flight in
2015, and will now make a manned
flight in 2016.

The first hotel goes up in
space
The year 2016 will see Russian space
group, Energiya, launching the world’s
first space hotel in partnership with US
firm Orbital Technologies. The hotel is
capable of housing up to seven peo-
ple; offers spectacular views of the
Earth and includes a menu crafted by
celebrity chefs. It also functions as a
possible emergency refuge for astro-
nauts from the International Space
Station.

Space tourism
World View Enterprises, a new startup
company based in Arizona will begin
offering flights to outer space in 2016
for tourists using a capsule lifted by
balloon that will go up to 20 miles (32
km) above the earth. Although some
way short of the 62 miles (100 km)
defined as “outer space”, passengers
will however be able to have a spec-

Driverless cars
Driverless cars will be on the streets of
about 30 US states by the end of 2016.
Comet LLC, a consulting firm focused
on automated vehicle commercial-
ization will first launch the cars in col-
lege campuses, theme parks, airports,
and downtown areas with low traf-

Sergio Canavero, an Italian neuro-
surgeon, intends to attempt the first
human head transplant by 2016.
Though no successful animal head
transplants with long-term survival
have yet been made, Canavero is
considering improvements in the pro-
cess using a special blade and poly-
ethylene glycol, as well as in every-
thing from skin cream to the conser-
vation of the Mary Rose, to help start
growth in spinal cord nerves. Other
experts say Canavero is being wildly
optimistic.

The 58th US presidential election will
take place on Tuesday, November 8,
2016. The incumbent President Obama
is ineligible to be elected to a third term,
due to term limits in the US Constitution.
The US may be on the verge of having
its first woman president in the person
of Hilary Clinton, being the current
frontrunner for the position.
