9 simple ways to improve
your job efficiency
D
o you constantly experience
extreme pressure at work
because of a heavy workload?
Did you know there are simple steps
a banker can be adopt to effectively
manage work load and improve effi-
ciency on the job? Here are simple
ways to achieve higher job efficiency.
1. Always paste a list of documen-
tation required for different tasks
like account opening, loans,
overdrafts, Fixed Deposits on your
desk. A post-it-note is ideal for this
simple task. This ensures that you
never miss out on any required
document for a task and signifi-
cantly improve your TAT.
2. Do a quick audit of submitted
documentation with control staff
while the customer is around. This
will enable you give the customer
a quick feedback and also ensure
any error is corrected, while the
customer is still easily available
3. Make all necessary photocopies
before commencement of busi-
ness. Photocopies for next work-
ing day should be done at close
of business not at commence-
ment of business.
4. Log complaints and follow up with
mails and calls.
5. Have a Turn-around Timeline for
your pending files. Apply the
bank’s TAT to your job function.
Escalate when necessary.
6. Own a diary. Create a work plan.
Plan your job for the day early in
the morning. Ensure you have a
well timed to do list for the day.
7. Write things down. The faintest
pen is sharper than the sharpest
memory! Things written cannot be
forgotten.
8. Practise Teamwork. Know and
work with the people you need to
get your work done.
9. Read your mail now and always!
Respond immediately to all mails
that require your response. Not
responding may keep someone
else’s job hanging. Do not be a
clog in the wheel.
