Leverage Diaspora Marketing
to Strengthen Partnership
M
oneyGram has undertaken a number
of corridor stimulation activities to drive
remittances via UBA-MoneyGram to our
locations in Nigeria and the greater UBA network in
Africa as part of efforts to strengthen their partner-
ship with UBA.
In line with this, a team of UBA and MoneyGram
representatives met recently in London to partici-
pate in several events including the Festival of Life
(FOL) activities of the RCCG church. This event,
reputed to be one of the largest congregations of
Africans in the UK with over 30,000 audiences, pro-
vided an excellent opportunity for direct market-
ing.
Other major activities embarked upon by the team
include participation in the Nigeria Carnival and
key Agent Location visits designed to build UBA-
MoneyGram relations with Ethnic Agents in the UK.
UBA is a key agent of MoneyGram in Africa with a
15-year partnership spread across UBA’s subsidiaries
in Africa and over 10,000 locations in 15 countries.
UBA is an anchor agent in Nigeria and key to the
business development aspiration for MoneyGram in
the entire sub-Sahara region.

Fellowship Award
I
n recognition of his outstanding contributions to the
banking sector, our Group Managing Director, Mr.
Phillips Oduoza has been honoured with a fellowship
investiture by the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria
(CIBN) at the 2012 Fellowship Investiture of the Institute
held on October 20, 2012 at the Federal Palace Hotel,
Lagos. He was honoured alongside two Deputy Governors
of Central Bank and six other bank chiefs in Nigeria.

Mr. Segun Aina commended the recipients
for their exemplary commitment to the
institute and the banking sector as well.
In his response, Mr. Oduoza thanked the
institute for honouring him with the fellowship
saying, “I feel very elated by this award. I
will continue doing my best to promote and
sustain the high ethical standards in the
institute and also the banking industry’’.
The Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria
is a body that determines the standards of
skills and knowledge of persons seeking to
become members of the banking profession.
