the 1st Mineral Wealth
Conference in East Africa

BA Uganda and Uganda Chambers of Mines and
Petroleum (UCMP) organized the first ever National
Mineral Wealth Conference on October 1 and 2,
2012 in East Africa. The high profile event attracted many
investors, mineral consultants, policy makers and regula-
tors.
The conference was attended by high-level stakeholders
including the Governor of Central Bank of Uganda, gov-
ernment agencies as well as Ministers from the East and
Central African regions; Heads of Chambers of Mines
from Kenya, Tanzanian, Zambia, Botswana, Zimbabwe,
South Africa and Namibia; Local Mining & Mineral Explo-
ration Companies; International investors from UK, China,
Australia, Canada and South Africa; mining services in-
dustries; Attorneys and Legal Consultants; Insurance and
Risks Management companies.
Former CEO, UBA Africa (now Directorate Head, Lagos
& West Bank), Mr. Gabriel Edgal made presentations at
both the conference and the cocktail hosted by UBA at
Serena Hotel.

he Regional Bank Head, Mid-West,
Nigeria, David Isiavwe and his team
from Ughelli Business Office on
October 19, 2012 paid a visit to Flood
Displaced Persons at the Oharisi Pri-
mary School Camp for Flood Displaced
Persons in Nigeria where they presented
relief materials to the displaced persons.
The donation which was occasioned by
the recent floods in Delta state, Nigeria,
included several bags of rice, garri, toi-
letries and a king-sized ram.
The team who mobilized funds via vol-
untary contributions and bought relief
materials for displaced persons at the
camp, took a tour of the camp visiting
the various skill-acquisition centers that
are training the youths and women on
hair-dressing, tailoring, bead-making
and other vocational trades.
While thanking the Bank for the visit, the
Camp Coordinator noted with delight
and much appreciation that UBA was
the first of all financial institutions in
Nigeria to visit and give support to the
flood victims. Members of the Red Cross
Society, Special Marshals, Civil Defence
Corps, NEMA officials and other relief
organisations were in attendance at the
presentation ceremony.
