UBA Kenya Board Pays Visit to
the Central Bank Governor
The Board of Directors of UBA Kenya led by its Chair-
man, Mr Ngugi Kiuna recently paid a courtesy visit to
Prof Njuguna Ndungu, the Governor of Central Bank of
Kenya at his office. The Governor applauded UBA for its
confidence in entering the Kenyan market with a green
field strategy and reaffirmed the regulators commitment
to support the bank as it grows and positions itself in the
Kenyan market.
The team sought the Central Bank’s position on several
issues key which included the status of the East African
Harmonization Protocols; East African Payment Systems
and Use of Parent Guarantee to undertake strategic
transactions in the Kenyan market.
The Governor updated the team on the progress so far
made with the harmonization and expressed its belief in
loan syndications which can be led by institutions such
as UBA given its track record and capabilities. The Gov-
ernor further expressed his appreciation for the engage-
ment and welcomed ideas from UBA.

Guinea
The UBA Read Africa train on Friday, Janu-
ary 20, 2012, made a stop over at two sec-
ondary schools; Secondary School Donka
and Secondary School Matam. The UBA
team presented recommended books the
“Black Child” written by Camara Laye and
“The Suns of Independence” written by Ah-
madou Kourouma.
The principals and the representatives of the Mu-
nicipal Directorate of Education Dixinn (DCE Dixinn)
expressed appreciation for UBA’s kind gesture in pro-
moting reading culture amongst African children.
