UBA Congo Visits Governor of
the Central Bank of Congo DRC
The MD/CEO, UBA Congo DRC Morissouali Cisse recently
visited the Governor of the Central Bank of Congo DRC
to get the Central Banks nod to open and commence op-
erations at the Head Office branch in addition to seeking
clarifications on regulatory issues in the country.
Also discussed was how UBA can aid development
of electronic payments system (mobile money) in the
country.

Chief Justice of Nigeria Com-
mends UBA
The Chief Justice of the Nigeria, Justice Dahiru Musda-
pher has commended UBA for its leadership role in the
African continent, particularly in sponsoring the ‘Daily
Trust African of the Year Award’. Speaking at the awards
ceremony in Abuja the Federal Capital city of Nigeria
on Wednesday January 25, 2012, the CJN said UBA “de-
serves praise for identifying with this noble cause for the
last four years”.
Former Head of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Ni-
ger, Justice Fatimata Salifou Bazeye who emerged the
Daily Trust African of the Year 2011, received the 50,000
US Dollars prize money donated by UBA at a colorful cer-
emony.
Organized every year by Daily Trust; one of Nigeria’s
leading newspapers, the Award committee made up of
notable Africans, meet to chose an African of exemplary
nature, doing seemingly ordinary but impactful work.
The Nigerien former Supreme Court Head was chosen
by the Advisory Board led by the former African Union
Chairman, Dr. Ahmed Salim Ahmed, for her outstanding
contribution to promotion of the rule of law, particularly
her ruling which rejected the proposal to amend the con-
stitution to extend the rule of former President Mahama-
dou Tandja.
In his remarks at the occasion our Executive Director, Mr.
Dan Okeke said UBA was supporting the award for the
fourth year running, because it aligns with “our Africa vision
and positioning”. He called on all African to emulate Justice
Bazeye and other past recipients, stating that we can in our
little ways do a lot to help develop Africa.
