“When you’re gone,
would you rather
have your gravestone
say, ‘He never missed
a meeting?’ Or one
that said, ‘He was a
great father.’”

Finding the right
Work-Life Balance
T
hese days, there is so much soci-
etal pressure, with too much to
do and too little time to do them.
Unfortunately, we often spend somuch
time chasing our numerous goals and
only realize when it’s already too late
that we have wasted time on things
that did not matter after all, and failed
to create the right memories.
Work–life balance is a concept that
entails being able to properly prioritize
between one’s “work” (career and
ambition) and “lifestyle” (health, plea-
sure, leisure, family and spiritual life).
Achieving the right work-life balance
is a daily process that we rarely pay
attention to.
Here are some tips on how to achieve
a better work-life balance:
Work smart:
Get to the office a few
minutes early and give yourself time
to settle down before the day starts.
Set daily goals and focus on achiev-
ing them with the 3-hour work period
of the day. Plan your day well, and
allocate your time to tasks on a scale
of importance.
Have some “ME” time:
There is a
reason why you have an hour slot for
lunch break. Now before you roll your
eyes, yes I am aware that sometimes
you can’t allocate an hour to have
lunch. But, assign at least 30 minutes
for a lunch break. Avoid having meals
at your desk. In the end, everything
has its time and place. Remember

you are not a machine running on
gasoline.
Down-time:
We all have hobbies or
skills that do not relate to our jobs/
professions. Find time to enjoy your
hobbies. Create a tradition with fam-
ily and friends where you kill two birds
with one stone. Enjoy time with them
while still doing something fun. At the
end of the day those memories will last
a lifetime.
