Poetry
The intimidator
Yet a motivator
You determine what it will be
Your reaction is the decider
Your choice of action makes the difference
The terminator
Yet the preserver
Nothing in fears but voices airy
Alarming where harm is not
Deluding the unwary till the fatal bolt is
shot!
The stopper
Yet the mobilizer
Understanding makes you have its best
It’s potent like the snake sweetens
Its folly gives cat; Lion looks
FEAR
By Oluwafemi Olabanji
Fiery and majestic
Rising gently behind concrete walls
Caressing the sky with a gentle rub
Powerful rays twinkle my eyes
Bold silvery streaks across the sky
A million sparks of tiny bubbles
Silvery messengers of the deep
Spitting tongues of tiny fires
Rising into endless space
Mysterious codes of the deep and the
unknown
Yellowish streak descends
Majestic still, silvery not
Bathed in a warm glow
The watery deep loses its shimmer
Concrete walls rise welcoming the deep
THE VIEW FROM MY WINDOW
By Anthony Osae-brown
The flapping of birds’
wings
Whistling, cooing, bleat-
ing, mooing
Quests of croaking frogs
Crowing of roosters
The tunes of nightingales
Sharpness of disputes
Opines’ bluntness
The fun of accord
Joy of friendship
The gaiety of life
Sentiments of love
The tears of hurts
Sobs of grief
Morrow’s anxiety
The shadows of doubt
The fears of frailty
The bothers of ailments
Loneliness oft at heart
The miracles of new lives
Birth of each day
Nature’s uneven physiog-
nomy
Life’s checkered vicis-
situdes
The dusks of despair
The dawns of hope
The yearn for longevity
The indebtedness of
demise
All make life just as it is –
Beautiful!
LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL

JOURNEY TO INNOCENCE
By Nonso Nduanya
Eyes so white, so bright
Bright as the rising sun
Piercing the dark veils of the soul
Like the morning rays through heavy drapes
Hands so soft, so tender
Delicate as the budding flower
Curled in warmth
Grasping, for assurance
A heart so pure, so untainted
Innocent as the lamb
Innocuous and trusting
Very much in need of love
At the wake of birth
At the summons of life
From love’s nest
Unto the first draw
Of breath’s full puff
Whilst pooled in blood
To a let out yell
Daintily held
Tender and brief
With muscles spastic
So full of verve -
Time’s premiere debut
While her books do open
to Life’s anonymity
The suddenness of
change
The chilliness of shock
Misty morrows
Frosting out guts -
Vicissitudes of life
Yet hope starts to peep
As confidence brews
Like the rays of sun
Like budding stumps
Till dusk shades the brows
When the body grows
cold
And demise dawns
As we are shut away
Merely to memory’s
thought
