Think Like
The Owner

ome people are tagged “performers.”
They seem to have incredible power to do
well in any position. They are the so-called
initiators, turnaround experts or strategists. They
are like plug and play human machines to the
corporate world.
Over the years, I have pondered and studied
what makes this set of people different. They
are less influenced by the negativity of the
company’s culture or environment. They exude
the rare qualities of great subordinates, man-
agers and leaders. One common attribute of
this plug and play staff is that they “think and
act like owners.”
Thinking or better still reasoning is not part of
the five senses regularly used by people. It is,
however, an important mental faculty which is
the basis for all actions. To take ownership of
something is to think like a leader, it is to accept
total responsibility for the outcome of events
in advance and push for the best possible
results. To take ownership is to be completely
obsessed, it is to be at the most creative and
