UBA WINS BANK OF THE
YEAR AWARD IN LIBERIA

n keeping with its tradition of recog-
nizing deserving institutions, Heritage
Newspaper of Liberia has named
our Liberian Subsidiary, UBA Liberia, as
Liberian Bank of the year.
The selection, according to the Libe-
ria’s leading newspaper was based
on the invaluable contributions UBA
Liberia made to the country in the
year 2011 through its launch of inno-
vative customer friendly products and
for producing the first ever Automated
Teller Machines (ATM) that dispenses
Liberian Dollars. Congratulations to
Mrs. Chioma Mang, Managing Direc-
tor, UBA Liberia and her team for the
well deserved honour.

iterated his much publicised notion that
development on the continent is best
driven by the private sector and noted
the capacity and capability of our Bank
to galvanise trade, investment and in-
frastructure development on the conti-
nent. He said, with presence in 19 African
Countries and major economic capitals
of the world, UBA is poised to champion
intra-Africa trade and cooperation.
During a session on agriculture financing,
the GMD joined by Former President of
Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo hyped
on the need for increased funding for ag-
riculture as a catalyst to sustainable de-
velopment on the continent. He informed
the audience of the role being played by
UBA in bridging finance-gap in the sec-
tor. He said that UBA remains the largest
credit finance provider among Nigerian
banks.
