What can we expect from the AFCON tourney?
I think it’s going to be an exciting tournament as there are countries that are making their debut appearance at the AFCON, and then of course, the ever-present countries to bring in their
“
Africa has produced a fair share of the finest footballers the world
has ever seen. Matter of fact, this year’s EPL highest goal scorers are bona fide sons of the soil.

What did it feel like being on the ‘Dream’ Team, the first to represent Nigeria at the World cup?
Everything about me is heaven sent.
The beautiful thing about my life is that I played football for only a decade, hung up my boots at 29, which is a pretty young age for a footballer to retire, but I
experience. And I think you can’t write-off anyone because football has improved everywhere, everyone stands a chance, there’s no underdog.
Describe the feeling of Fans cheering you.
I am not one who’s emotional. I try to keep my cool most of the time, but there’s only one moment that moves me: when the stadium is packed to the rafters and the fans are cheering my name – priceless moment! It actually drives you to do well so you don’t disappoint them.
was blessed with such trophies and one was being an Olympian and winning an Olympic gold medal.
What should we expect from the Nations Cup?
As a team, as a manager, and as players, the first priority if you are going on a tournament is to go out there and win
it. We are not going into tournaments thinking we are “underdogs”. We used that word when we were going to the World Cup, that we had young players and we were trying to build a team, but for us as football experts, we know that
the younger you are, the more energy
you have to play good football, and we have a lot of sexy young players around the world now who can represent us very well. So, I think we should tell the team, ‘go out there, expose yourself and enjoy the beautiful world of football out there!’
