 DUPE OLUSOLA
Group Head, Marketing
I presently serve in the capacity of Group Head, Marketing. As a woman on top, leading with focus is very important. I am driven to excel. I believe in a ‘can-do’ attitude. I believe in giving it all of my best. I never take ‘No’ for an answer and where it seems uncertain or unclear, I go the extra mile to learn and devise strategic objectives that will help me attain my goals. I know everything is possible.
I really appreciate that UBA is a different kind of brand. The support we receive as women in top management from the leadership of the bank is invaluable, and in turn I am fuelled with a passion to market UBA in a different way - I strive for UBA to be relevant to all stakeholders’ whether young, old, male or female and I aim for whatever I do to reflect our core values in the results.
My advice therefore to those women coming behind us is ‘NO LIMITS!’ Everyone’s race is different and just because you fall or trip, it is not the end. You must keep reaching even when it seems far, that push will knock down doors and strategically elevate you when it is your time.
   PAMELA SHODIPO
Regional Head, Lagos Bank 3
I have been in the bank since 2007 and I am now the Regional Head, Bank 3, Lagos. I have the inner will to succeed, strength and focus – basically, discipline is my unique skill. I do not like to be found wanting; it is very key. I also love professionalism; I would hate peo- ple to pick me out as someone who is not professional. Plus, to be honest, my spouse and family have been extremely supportive. They make sure I am not uncom- fortable on the job. I love serving and meeting people, so relationship management is something I have obvi- ously loved. So while I am taking on an advisory role for my customers’ business and leading my team, all these factors come into play and help my growth as a career woman on top.
Women have always been expected to follow behind, but to be ahead you must think far and above the hin- drances and strive to achieve the impossible. So as I like to remind folks- keep going and you’ll see results as nothing comes easy.
UBA is turning 70 and still has many more years in the world, we will continue to grow. I want to see us leave a great legacy behind.
