harvests supported the economy in the past, low oil prices now stress Chad’s fiscal position and have resulted in signif- icant government cutbacks. Chad relies on foreign assistance and foreign capital for most of its public and private sector investment.

Fossil tree of Pala - Found in the town of Pala South of Chad, the fossils trees are portions of tree trunks that have over the years transformed into rocks. This usually takes decades to thousands of years. Brief periods of rapid sedimentation favour their formation.
Zakouma National Park - Zakouma National Park is in the south between
the towns of Am Timan and Sarh. It was the first national park in Chad, and it is almost 3,000 square kilometres. You can see huge herds of elephants and giraffes in the park. You can also see lions in their natural habitat. Zakouma National Park also has 226 documented bird species
for the bird watchers.
Lake Chad - Lake Chad was once the centre of Africa’s salt trade and one of the largest freshwater lakes in the world. But if you want to see it, then you have to come soon because it is shrinking. The best time to visit is between August and December when the water level is at its highest. You can even see hippos and crocodiles here.
Ennedi Desert - The Ennedi Desert used to be underwater, so it has many rock formations and sea arches. It is in the Sahara Desert of north-eastern Chad. The desert contains prehistoric cave paintings from the past. It also has small, hidden, blue-green desert lakes and slot canyons to explore.
Lake Ounianga - Lake Ounianga in Chad has been inscribed on the World Heritage list. The Lakes of Ounianga are a series of lakes in the Sahara Desert, in North-Eastern Chad, occupying a basin in the mountains of West Tibesti and Ennedi East. It was added as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2012. According to the UNESCO description, the lakes are in a hot and hyperarid desert that features a rainfall of less than 2 millimetres (0.1
